Heavy Rainfall Predicted in Gujarat as Monsoon Revives
IN · Published Sep 13, 2026
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a revival of monsoon activity in Gujarat starting from September 12,
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in South Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra, including districts such as Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. The rainfall is linked to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring significant precipitation to the region. This marks the end of a three-week dry spell in Gujarat, although the state continues to experience an overall rainfall deficit, particularly in Saurashtra and Kutch.

Impact & Risks

The anticipated heavy rainfall could provide much-needed relief to drought-affected areas in Gujarat. However, it also raises concerns about potential waterlogging, flooding, and travel disruptions in vulnerable districts. Residents in areas like Dang, Navsari, and Valsad are at higher risk of experiencing intense rainfall, which could impact daily activities and infrastructure.
